My core work focuses on the mechanism of genetic interactions in Streptococcus pneumoniae, building upon initial synthetic lethality (SL) screening results. I am primarily studying the interplay between the putative glycosidase PvaA — a known vaccine target with an elusive cellular function and core cell division factors. This project aims to precisely define PvaA's molecular role in cell separation and exploit SL network to identify key structural vulnerabilities for developing next-generation antimicrobial strategies.
